Josh our Buyer has an anecdote about Chaco. When in 2010 he went on a fifteen month bike packing odyssey to South Africa from East Yorkshire - check out the Orange Bike Ride on the blog - he noted that every American he came across was wearing a distinctive Z-strap performance sandal with a chunky sole unit and a lizard logo.
Turns out that they were Chaco more often called Chaco’s. Founded in 1989 by a Colorado rafting guide who fashioned the single continuous strap design of the original Z/1, which allows for a fully customised fit and has seen them become an institution in the US, where they have a devoted following; we recommend drinking the Kool Aid too.
