A bonafide classic, Patagonia's Synchilla Fleece Jacket is a true masterpiece of outdoor design that barely needs an introduction. The more low-profile alternative to Patagonia's chunky pile fleeces, it's made from Synchilla (as in synthetic chinchilla)-a lightweight recycled polyester fleece that the California brand have been using since the '80s which is renowned for its warmth-to-weight ratio. Combine that with contrasting nylon chest pocket and that stand-collar and you've got a prime cold weather layer that works just as well thrown over a tee or shirt on dry days as it does under a waterproof when the sky is falling.
