Patagonia have been making Rugby Shirts for as long as they’ve been making clothing, period. Founder Yvon Chouinard admired the hard-wearing qualities of the rugby shirt - the tough cotton jersey and the neck-protecting turn-up collar especially - and reappropriated the humble design, taking it from the scrum to the wall. A hit with the nascent Stonemasters, the rugby shirt became an unofficial part of the dirtbag climber uniform, and the rest is, as they say, history. This version here is basically an un-tinkered-with interpretation, albeit with a cropped hem for modern styling.
