Lightweight and ingeniously-constructed, the Ex Lite Thermawrap Parka from Montbell is a midlayer for the gram-conscious alpinist. Clocking in at a mere 207g, this has been constructed with the ‘sewn-through’ technique, which keeps the lofty Exceloft insulation where it needs to be. Further strengthening the warming qualities is the seamless face fabric, which blocks wind and retains heat. Design details are kept to a minimum, but essentials are present: an adjustable hood, three zipped pockets and stuff sack all contribute to a highly-versatile style ideal for climbing, roaming and scrambling. The synthetic fill will perform better than down in damp conditions.
