In Detail: Filson 3-Layer Field Jacket
Filson: pioneer; purveyor; progressive
Utilising a traditional colour palette with contemporary hi-tech materials, the new offerings from Filson promise to outlast their buyer. For this In-detail, we’re deconstructing the most technical piece from our most recent drop: the 3-Layer Field Jacket—a perfect exemplar of their slogan, ‘Might as Well Have the best’.
It boasts a highly-durable three-layer construction with fully taped seams, that ensures full waterproofness in the field and elsewhere. The breathable membrane is also moulded to fit active lifestyles, with articulated sleeves and reinforced forearms to keep you comfortable.
The jacket’s inner YKK zips mean that it accepts Filson zip-in liners, so can be beefed up if the weather is particularly treacherous. Once you’re active, two-way frontal zips and pit zips promise to keep the temperature regulated.
Pockets: with expandable outer pockets, two microfleece-lined handwarmer pockets, chest pockets, an inner security pocket, and a large rear game bag (if you’re no hunter, this is also ideal for maps, books, and anything else of that nature)—the coat achieves the duality of aesthetic sleekness, and multiple storage capabilities.
An adjustable hood, which is both large enough to fit headgear underneath and simultaneously retain peripheral vision, is controlled by two draw-cord toggles. As is the adjustable waist, which is great for extra warmth or a snugger fit.
